The most advanced and robust connectivity between the Balearics and the Peninsula

In operation since 2001, IslaLink connects the Peninsula with Mallorca with the BalaLink cable. The first independent submarine cable to be built in Spain, BalaLink runs from Valencia to Palma de Mallorca with 24 fiber optic pairs without repeaters. Two additional system provide a diverse, backup route connecting the Island of Ibiza. All in all, IslaLink can offer three routes to the Mallorca Island and two routes to the Ibiza Island, which is the strongest configuration available in the market.

A safe and durable system

The cable is buried for depths above 1000 meters. No cable cuts have occurred since the construction, thus increasing considerably the expected lifetime of the cable. The network availability of the submarine system has been 100% since 2001

The terrestrial routes

The submarine system is complemented with 190 km of fiber routes to reach the Cable Landing Stations (CLSs), IslaLink POPs and the customers’ POPs. Most of the terrestrial routes are redundant.

Mallorca fiber ring

The BalaLink submarine system is extended across the Island of Mallorca through a terrestrial fiber network, providing lit fiber services.

The configuration of the network interconnects a relevant number of key locations across Mallorca, providing redundant point to multipoint services interconnecting.

Traffic can be delivered in Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona
